An integrated and undivided society makes a strong nation

A nation with harmony in the society. It was only after 1857 when we have evidence of communal violence in the name of religion, only when the then colonial rulers adopted the policy of 'divide and rule'. Although we have evidence of stratification of society in the name of caste even before 1857 also.

In fact if we will look at the history we have evidences of divide in society in the name of Varna system (caste system) when our society was divided into four Varna i.e. Brahmins, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra. The origin of this divide is generally traced to the "Purusha Sukta" verse of the Rig Veda, but this divide was on the basis of work done by an individual, it was not hereditary in nature as it is today. Hence it was only after the vedic period when this was wrongly interpreted and made hereditary. And the consequences of such wrong interpretation is this that later on society divided themselves in such a way that it kept on weakening century after century. And it was this divided and weak society that made it vulnerable and facilitated infiltrators to attack on this land again and again. It was this divided and weak society which facilitated the foreign rulers to rule this nation one by one.

As I said it was only after 1857 when the Hindu-Muslim cleavage started growing which ultimately divided the nation into two parts. Before that social stratification on the basis of caste system was making this land hollow because of which this land was divided into many princely states. Hence this divide on the basis of religion and caste has given us only violence and disintegration of the nation. And this all because of the wrong interpretation of Rig Veda which is considered as 'shruti' and 'apurushy', it was contaminated through wrong interpretation. The consequences of such wrong interpretation is this that once the womb of religion which gave birth to various religion like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and so on, which taught the whole world the lesson of tolerance, universal acceptance, non-violence, truth, compassion, love and humanity, has themselves divided in such a way that there is violence in the name of religion and caste, there is lack of justice, compassion, love and human values.

The feeling of caste and religion has been inculcated in the youths of this country in such a way today that they can't think beyond that, the feeling of religion and caste has become nationalism for them. Once the wrong interpretation of Rig Veda divided us by few people for their own convenience, Second the British colonial rule divided us in the name of Hindu-Muslim to rule this country and now again a new force has emerged in the last few years who have adopted the same most proven and convenient policy of divide and rule to rule this country again. Considering the fact that we are already a vulnerable society in which the caste system has already divided us and we have seen the devastating consequences of such divide in the past but still we are not taking lessons from the past, it is really painful and pessimistic. Although an attempt was made to overcome this divide when a constitution was made with secular ethos and to bring the whole society all together and to dilute the cleavage of the caste system but unfortunately the divisive forces are attacking this constitution also nowadays. Although this constitution has been wrongly interpreted earlier also, it is not only this government who is doing it for the first time rather it has been done earlier also.

Divide in society in the name of religion and caste will make us weak as a nation and will put sovereignty in danger as it has happened in the past. The mistake which has been made in the past, we can't afford to repeat it again. So far the people who have ruled us have utilised this divide as an apparatus to come in power and for polarizing society for votes. And we the fools of this country instead of taking lessons with the paste easily become the prey of such divisive forces. Hence this caste system which is actually the result of wrong interpretation of Rig Veda should not be the element of discord in society further, it has been deliberately developed to divide us to achieve some political ambition and it is our duty to overcome this divisive element of caste system through understanding it carefully in the context of social harmony and prosperity of this nation. Similarly the religion is an individual affair and should be allowed to be individual only, it should not be the reason for division in society and social disharmony.

Since God had made us human beings irrespective of religion, race and caste, with the feeling of compassion and empathy, it was we who dug our own grave by dividing themselves in the name of religion, race and caste. Hence it is very important to understand that this divide can give us only social violence, injustice, hatred and disintegration and the forces which are creating such divides are actually the enemy of the whole humanity. It is the time to take lesson with the past and integrate yourself for the peace and prosperity of this nation
